The Story

In 1972, Jerry Lohr planted his first vineyard here, recognizing what few others did: that Monterey County's cool climate could produce world-class Chardonnay. A 10-year-old Steve Lohr helped plant the original vines. Today, this vineyard remains the crown jewel of J. Lohr's white wine program.

The "arroyo" (dry creek) and the vista (view) of the Santa Lucia Mountains
