Stairway Vineyard
The Story
The dramatic terracing of Stairway Vineyard is both functional and beautiful. By following the natural contours of the hillside, each "step" captures different sun exposure and airflow. This vineyard is the heart of the acclaimed Signature Cabernet Sauvignon, created to honor Jerry Lohr's 80th birthday.

Terroir
Location
A dramatic terraced vineyard carved into the western hillsides of Paso Robles. The "stairway" of vineyard blocks ascends the slope, each terrace with its own microclimate.
Climate
The terraced layout creates multiple microclimates. Higher blocks experience cooler temperatures and more wind, while lower blocks benefit from heat retention. This diversity allows for complex, layered blending.
